FEBRUARY 2014
NEXT EVENTS - Plus!

Dear ERICA,
JOIN US ON :
Friday, FEBRUARY 28, 2014 for a special program at Bellevue Medical Center
The presenter is Bonnie Michelman CPP, CHPA and details are in the right-hand column.
After the presentation at Bellevue, members of MHSDA are invited to a networking event with beverages and refreshments. Special invitations will be emailed to current MHSDA members separately.

If you haven't already joined or renewed your membership in Metropolitan Healthcare Security Directors Association (MHSDA) now is the time to do it.

Whether you are leading the team at your facility, managing day-to-day operations, serving at the front desk, patrolling, or working with visitors and patients everyday, there's a membership category just right for you.

If you are with one of the organizations that supply our industry with contract services and the other tools to support success, then MHSDA has membership categories that will be beneficial to you as well.

For answers to questions, membership applications or more information about MHSDA, or expanded material on subjects covered here, please drop us an email at:Notaroba@nychhc.org or at:clipboardnyc@gmail.com

We are working on developing a website for MHSDA. We look forward to your input so we can create something useful and informative for your reference.

If you have material for the next newsletter, let us know now.

Thank you,
Anthony S. Notaroberta, PCI
Chapter Treasurer and Secretary

We are now accepting nominations for the next OUTSTANDING SECURITY OFFICER RECOGNITION AWARD

(Each quarter MHSDA will recognize an outstanding security officer or member of your healthcare security/safety team.)

Security Officer Esequiel Santiago of Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center received our first MHSDA Officer Recognition Award.
Who on your team should be considered for the next award?

Bellevue Hospital Ambulance 1896

Is someone at your facility the right choice for the next special award that will be issued next quarter?
As part of new MHSDA initiatives, we want to acknowledge people on your staff or under contract to you who are already demonstrating qualities that make them outstanding.

Knowing how busy your management is, below are some criteria you may want to consider for the three remaining 2014 awards. (Those who don't make it onto your list right now, might be up for consideration during a subsequent round of nominations later in the year.)

Use the MHSDA award program as part of your merit and achievement efforts. The Award Plaques are substantial and impressive. You can be sure that if a member of your team is chosen as a recipient, it will have a positive impact and the person will display the plaque with pride.

Check the sample criteria below - several of them may be particularly applicable to one or more members of your organization:
* Long term quality service
* Special incident response
* Innovative ideas put into practice (at the front desk sign-in sheet- have translations of "Welcome" in 12 languages to "speak" to all the visitors that the building usually accommodates... etc.)
* Life-saving actions (AED, addressing an epileptic fit in lobby, calming an unstable individual at the front desk before the police arrive, preventing a person from harming themselves or others,etc.)

Drop us an email at: clipboardnyc.com and we'll send you an application to nominate the individuals you consider award candidates -or write your recommendation directly to us.

Got suggestions about this program or other programs? For instance, if your candidate is selected, would you like an executive from MHSDA to present the award at your healthcare facility? It might have even more impact and more photo opportunities.

Please share your input with us now so we can continue to make all the new programs valuable and useful to you.
